Lightweight bottles
The single biggest reduction within any producer’s reach.
Because packaging is the largest single hotspot and glass its dominant fraction, lightening the bottle is the highest-return reduction for most wines. Many “heavy” 500–600 g bottles can drop to 380–420 g with no perceived quality loss.
The benefit is twofold: less glass manufactured and less weight transported. The resistance is usually marketing, not technical — hence the importance of measuring and communicating the reduction.
